

Barry was presented the prestigious Navy Achievement Medal by the Secretary of the Navy while working as a Hospital Corpsman in the Emergency Department at Portsmouth Naval Hospital Portsmouth, Virginia. This medal was given for superior services performed as shift supervisor and medical supply corpsman during an Emergency Department renovation and the addition of an Emergency Department Residency program (August 1988 to August 1990).
In December of 1999 Barry started Carolina Surgical Assistants, Inc. which specialized in staffing surgical assistants, technicians and nurses to local hospitals and surgical facilities. Carolina Surgical Assistants evolved into Expense Management Network in order to assist local medical facilities reduce their ever increasing costs of doing business. Expense Management Network is among a rare breed of consulting firms dedicated to medical facility expense reduction.
Barry uses his strength as a learner to gather information, understand best practices, and expertly assimilate procedures and processes to obtain stunning results. His modus operandi is to always achieve the best for clients while maintaining an ethical and integrity level that is second to none. His unique combination of medical knowledge, supply chain management, and fiscal responsibility makes it easy to see why his recommendations have a 100% success rate. Barry does not lose sight of people as he improves processes. He has a gifted manner of negotiating, encouraging others, increasing morale, and leading others to work from their strengths. As a learner, he is always open to input and ways to develop and refine his strengths and his business.
He is actively involved in his local church ministry where he serves as a married couples Sunday School teacher. He is a volunteer budget counselor and leads small group studies for Crown Financial Ministries to both corporations and individuals. He has mentored countless number of people to develop sound principles of personal and business financial management. Additionally, Barry serves the Triad community by volunteering his time to serve on the executive board of the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission.
